  • Why would the little scroll be sweet to the taste, but bitter in the stomach?

Chapter 12 of Revelation starts by showing us the core spiritual drama at play since the angel announced to Joseph that Jesus who was to be born to Mary would save his people from their sins (Matt 1: 20-21). Satan (the dragon) is cast out of heaven by Jesus paying the price for sin even as the ole devil makes war with the angels to try to stay there. Satan can no longer act like a prosecuting attorney to accuse and demand that Christians pay the price for their sin by going to hell. Why? Because Jesus has paid the price of sin, and his blood has expunged all the record of their sins when they repented and believed in Jesus as their Savior. Satan has no case against those who believe. • Living the gospel in faith, hope, and love—for now and for those who come after us.

Many Christians live with the constant expectation that Jesus is coming very soon. That hope is biblical and precious. But when that expectation becomes so dominant that it shortens our vision, something vital is lost. Scripture never calls us to abandon the world in anticipation of escape; it calls us to faithful stewardship while we wait. The Church was never meant to live with its bags packed, but with its hands at work.

Jesus taught His followers to pray for God’s will to be done on earth, to invest what they were given, and to make disciples—work that unfolds over generations. A faith that only looks toward the end can quietly neglect the present, leaving culture, institutions, and the next generation under-discipled and under-loved. Expectancy without endurance produces impatience, not maturity.

True revival has always been generational. It shapes children, reforms communities, and builds foundations that outlast those who started it. If Jesus delays His return, our calling does not change. We are still responsible for what we hand to our children and grandchildren. Faithfulness means planting trees we may never sit under and building for a future we may never see.

The hope of Christ’s return was never meant to shrink our vision, but to strengthen our faithfulness. A Church that truly believes Jesus reigns should be the most courageous builder of the future—living in hope, laboring in love, and trusting God with the times and seasons.

My book, FORESIGHT: UNFOLDING THE PLOT OF THE BIBLE, is intended to help us identify with God’s kingdom purpose for the present and to prepare the way for our grandchildren to serve the Lord.

  • REVIVAL

Revival is happening to shine light in the darkness of truth-rejecting society. Oh yes, the evil forces are doing their best to block the light, but they cannot succeed. God is moving in a powerful way. People are being awakened and born again to abundant spiritual life in Jesus. Many followers of Christ are aware that we are on the verge of a great awakening. And the more we testify of this awareness, the more the revival spreads. Read my books that show from the Bible that the kingdom of God is now, in this age, conquering the kingdom of the world. Check them out at larrygrabill.com.

  • Identifying the two Witnesses of Revelation 11

My book, REVELATION UNROLLED, at amazon.com/dp/B0FN8KV8D1, shows the theme of Revelation to be [conquering through the word of God and the testimony of Jesus]. All seven churches are challenged to conquer, and the Lamb is found worthy to open the scroll because he has conquered. Recognizing this theme helps us identify the two witnesses of chapter 11 as personifications of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus enjoying spiritual conquest.

Hopefully, reading this book will help you to see that God’s kingdom is presently, in this age, conquering the kingdom of the world. And in this awareness may God help us believe for a worldwide awakening. We can conquer through the faith that the Word gives us and testifying for Jesus. • Books by Larry Grabil

My study of the Bible for ministry in the last fifty years of pastoring inspired me to write four books. So I now, in my retirement, I want to encourage people through my books to apply the Word to their lives.

My books are built on the idea that the triad of faith, hope, and love is the underlying spiritual fabric of all scripture. So the more we get into the Word, the more the Holy Spirit pours out his love in our hearts along with faith and hope. This give us the “joy of the Lord which is our strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).
